The Hooded Short Story Contest

Begins: January 22, 2020.
Ends: May 1, 2020.
Results by May 31, 2020.

Do you want to a chance to use your writing skills? Do you want to get published on the Under the Hood website have your work reviewed on the Under the Hood YouTube channel? Do you want the chance to win $100? Now is your chance!

Francis Booker and Michael Ragusa are holding a contest to see who can write the best short story that takes place in the world of The Hooded. Winning entries will be published on the Under the Hood Website and reviewed on the Under the Hood YouTube channel. The grand prize winner will receive a $100 visa gift card!

Rules and Regulations:

1. All entries must be emailed to by 11:59 pm, May 1, 2020.

2. Entries must be narrative fiction that is directly related to The Hooded. They may or may not include characters, events, places, or concepts from Stand or any of the short stories already on the website. Entries do not have to follow the established canon of the Hooded and may modify events or situations as long as it is still recognizably related to The Hooded.

3. All entries must be the author’s original work and ideas. Modified retellings of previously published works will be disqualified.

4. Entries that support immoral or illegal behavior will be removed, as will entries that are graphic in nature.

5. A maximum of three (3) entries may be submitted by a single author.

6. Short stories must be between 1000 and 10,000 words long. All entries must begin with a title and the names (or pen names) of the author(s). If the author has additional social media, websites, or previous literary work they would like shared, it can be included as well.

7. All entries will be read by a panel of qualified judges. Final decisions will be made by Francis Booker and Michael Ragusa.

8. Winning entries will be published on the Short Stories page of and reviewed on the Under the Hood YouTube channel. They may be linked or promoted on social media. Submissions may go through editing (with author’s permission) before publication.

9. Authors retain their ability to publish their own work on other websites (including their own), so long as it is not for profit.

10. No personal information is required other than author’s name (or pen name) and email address. Grand prize winner will be contacted to determine how they will receive the award money.

11. In the event of a tie, prize money will be split evenly among winners.

12. Entries may be removed at Francis Booker’s or Michael Ragusa’s discretion.

13. By submitting, you are agreeing to all contest rules.
